More bad news for Labor

The ‘Weekend Australian’ has revealed that the Rudd Government is to add another failure to its already tarnished record. The Indigenous housing program looks set to be the next victim of Labor’s inability to deliver on, well, pretty much anything.
The report claims that a mere 11 houses have so far been built. This is significant when $43 million has already been spent on the program. Most concerning for the public is the potential for the overall cost to exceed the projected $5.5 billion budget.
For the Government this could not come at a worse time. With a string of policy failures behind them, a Budget short on anything positive and question over the implementation of the Resources Super Profits Tax (RSPT) Labor machine must be starting to worry. It has been a long time since Mr Rudd or Labor offered any good news to the public.
Labor needs to start producing some results and quickly. As economic managers they have not shown that they are capable. At this stage they have only succeeded in generating Billions in debt. As project managers Labor’s record is even worse. Cost over-runs, lack of accountability, mismanagement, even deaths have all occurred during the past two years of Labor. With this kind of record what chance is there of being re-elected?
Fortunately for Labor the Opposition leader, Tony Abbott, does not appear to be appealing to the voter in a meaningful way. However, this could easily change. If Labor does not turn its fortunes around from here onward the chances of its re-election will plummet rapidly.
While I personally do not endorse Abbott as PM the current PM, Kevin Rudd does not look any better. If anything the current PM is a poor leader more prone to seeking publicity than producing results.
