SA Labor back to lying, deceitful ways

The re-election of the Rann Labor Government in South Australia is starting to show signs of a major catastrophe for South Australians. The most serious cause of concern is the State’s second in command and treasurer, Kevin Foley.
It is hard to fathom that a man who freely admits to being unable to cope with High School basics and is well know for his Bully Boy tactics and head kicker attitude is in charge of the State finances.
This Government who used every tactic no matter how unethical to regain power – a methodology which can hardly give Labor a strong case for legitimacy – is back to its old self. There is little good news for the public or for the public service. For those who thought that the recent election had given Labor food for thought there is bad news: they have learnt nothing. If anything it appears that Labor’s contempt for the public is stronger than ever.

To start this week Mr Foley forgot that he represents the people of South Australia and has been fighting the Federal Government over their proposed Super Tax on mining profits. The bluff and bluster from the mining giants has Foley running around trying to save them their massive profit instead of looking after the interests of those he supposedly represents.
This was followed up by Mr Foley’s inability to commit the Government to a $450 million limit on the proposed Adelaide Oval redevelopment. In an interview on 891 ABC’s Morning Show this week Foley all but said that the government would cover whatever cost blowouts came about. Mr Foley would give no commitment to keeping the expenditure within this figure. This is despite an absolute guarantee prior to the election that $450 million was a non-negotiable limit for the government.
In the latest revelation Greens MLC, Mark Parnell, has exposed Foley’s firm commitment to BHP’s Olympic Dam expansion at whatever cost. The determination of Foley comes even before the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the project has been completed. The story from The Independent Weekly demonstrates yet again the Mr Foley is not interested in what is best for South Australian constituents only what his mates in industry want.

Following their sham election victory Labor has returned to its arrogant self ignoring what is in the best interest of the electorate and curtailing to the demands of industry carte blanche.
